Well here we go again..... 3rd time trial the clutch went out. Got home and tore it apart. Looked like the fork popped off the ball and wedged against the bellhousing. Then the weights on the pressure plate wedged under the ringers of the pressure plate. some of the weights broke and they pulled out of the retainer springs. Looks like a new clutch assembly, fork, and ball...... ahhh more money
Didn't even get one good run. The only good launch and the clutch pedal went to the floor going to third making all kinds of noise and the above happened, I coasted to a 12.81 @ 83 :boxing
If you going to race that thing on a regular basis you would be better to cut your losses and put a good auto in there. Still able to maunally shift it, so its still fun, with 90% less headaches.
I thought about that but I run alot of other events besides drag racing and I like the car being a stick. You just have to expect to break things when you start to add more power. I figure about $600 to repair vs. alot more to convert it to a auto. I'd need a trans, flywheel, converter, cooler(auto radiator), change the 4:10 gears, Console peices including shifter.... I'd say around $3000  After all I just spent on the motor, cage, rear, shocks.... Jaymie suports my addiction,,, but would beat me down lol :D :D :D
Hey Rich. Nice seeing you and Jaymie today. Good luck with the repairs the car sounded great today. Me and Ross were betting you would have the car all apart by Sunday morning. Well it looks like you work even faster than we thought. See you at the next challenge.

Breaking the clutch like that is very unusual, hopefully you won't see that happen again...

I got all the parts from Gene's Karshop for $1000 including shipping to convert my Dad's. But then add another $650 for the converter. And I stuck with the 4.10 gears so there was no additional cost there.
Butttt, the first time rebuild cost us $1200. And now it's broke again so that will be more $$. So the $$ quickly add up.
Panuzzo has the best idea -- slow the car down. It will be more consistent and more reliable. But that's VERY hard for most of us to do...

Rich, what were incremental times and 1/8 mile speed on that run? It looked like a pretty good run until you ran into trouble...
