Fantastic times and I love the fact that you drive it to the track!
That is so cool !!! I just love NA fast vettes,,Congrats to everyone conected to the project..We just finished our 71 vette and we went that route as well with a 427 cu in small block..It has 14 degree proheads and our own hand build 2" headers....we are running carbed now but I am going to change to FI soon..First time out in complete street trim , drag radials, though the muffs we went 9.86 at 140..I think we will get to mid 9's this way and hopeing for a 8.90 148 with slicks and wheelie bars , open exhaust,,Who said NA smallblocks can't run...Imagine if we run the juice..We built the bottom end to stand a 500 shot..............you can see the car ( before we lowered it 2" and put weld alumistars wheels and radials on) at http://www.tobefast.com Just click on the automotive side and read below the turbo TA to click on Vette pics...............Hope to race with you guys soon..Keep the fast plastic cars going faster........Jerry
Congrats,,,,What a super vette...How much power do you think the A-4 will stand? who builds yours? I have a 71 vette with a 427 sb. NA and it has the power to run low nines high eights and I need something that can stand the abuse.I am currently running a 400 trans with 4.10 gear..The 14 degree motor has all the best stuff and will pull 8,000 if I want to so cruising at 65 is no problem but the thoughts of a overdrive dance in my head,,, ha ha. We built the motor to stand big juice if we want to , but I don't think I could stand the pressure of runnig that fast...I think I will stay NA and shoot for an eight...Have fun and tell the Car-tec guys Jerry McCoy said Job well done.......
We both run Rosslers http://www.rosslertrans.com/
Mine is a stage 2 A4, not sure about Mike's.
I am sure they have something for ya.
I have talked to Carl Rossler, seems customer oriented to me and has a good "freshening up" program for his trannys too

Re: 9's NA!!!!! (JerryMcCoy)
JERRY:
Although Carl Rossler indeed builds a stout 4l60E tranny there is NO WAY that it will hold up to the power your making if you have potential for an 8 sec something time slip and if your spray FORGET ABOUT IT!!!! STICK with the turbo 400 for your drag car and get a Z06 for highway and street driving!!!
Us A4 Guys know that the 4L60E even the best like Rosslers and my Stage V from FLP are a weak link when you start reaching the EXTREME power levels that Stealth's C5 is running! How about your turbo 400 and getting a gear vendors overdrive gear to get you that 4th gear. THAT would be the BEST of both worlds!!!!!
Hey thanks for the info,,Yea we have run alot of the 700r-4 setups in our Turbo S-10 and GMC syclones we build..Your are exactly correct they are maxed out at 700 engine hp and only that for a short time...I really thought you guys were running something else that I hadn't heard of...Nines on one of those trannies is awesome..We have gotten to the low 10's on our Syclone AWD setups with the 700's but have to go to 400's or glides to get them in the nines......Bad little six cylinders though.........I have the Vette fever right now so I am concentrating On the 71 we just finished....Going to get some bigger slicks now that we have the wheelie bars on and see if we can get this thing to the mid nines with traction and then the tuning begins. I don't know if we can get to the eights NA but we are going to give it a try...It is so cool to run a big number and the guys at the street drags expect a big shot of nitrous , a blower, turbo or and monster big block..Then they look under the hood and see the small block..Ha ha...big fun..Take care and talk to you soon ...Jerry http://www.tobefast.com
