Yep, I did. Our local track was having a test and tune day, and decided to do a trophy eliminator around 2PM. I didn't do to well in the eliminator, but did have to new personal bests:
Best new ET: 12.271 @ 112.79
Best new MPH: 12.323 @ 114.47
I lost in the first round of eliminations. I had what looked like to me almost ( objects are closer than they appear in the passenger side mirror ) 10 lengths on him towards the finish line, stood on the brakes hard but still broke out.
One of my friend won first place in the Street Eliminator class in his stock 93 Coupe. His vette has 102,000 miles on it and still has the original spark plugs. His best time of the day was a 13.011..
Thankfully someone raced. So you did not win but congrats on the new best.
Thanks Edgar!! I've been working on the mechanics of drag racing, now I just need to learn to keep my head in the game so I don't lose races I should easily win.
I'm going to run in the points championship this year at our local track, and no, I don't have any expectations of winning, or even placing very high in the points at the end of the season. But, I'm going to try to really focus on it and at least give the top competitors a run for their money every time I race. I have a lot to learn, but I'm having a great time doing this...it's a great way to take my mind off of work..
I opted to work on my car (love the sound of that) this weekend instead of race.
Anybody race this weekend?
Edgar, it's great that you are doing your own work on the car! It might take you longer to get the job done, but remember you gotta start somewhere!
My dad and I did some practice runs on Friday night and then on Saturday night I raced in the Mustang showdown. Friday was good because we got 5 runs -- one about every 50 minutes. I didn't fare too well on Saturday because of mechanical problems but that's another story...
. I am not as big a player as most of you, but I hit the local TNT. Have a new personal best 0f 13.1@108, with a 60' of 2.0. I think I still have alot left to gain in the launch. Oh and there was a 15MPH head wind all night :mad . I know , hope for better conditions next week!
We did Emily got down to 5 cars in Super Pro Sat night and cut a .006 light....against a .026 opponent, but it was late & the track was going away so she did't run her #. Oh well....still paid for the weekend.
We did see a fellow from the UK running a borrowed 02 vert that went 4-5 rounds in footbrake! I was impressed!!
Detroit Locker event this weekend, we will run the C5 & the dragster in.
Not I......The wife had me dump 9 bags of black dyed mulch, fertilize the lawn, stain the mailbox post, and plant flowers(her task). The car is still under the knife anyway.....Tony
My car is under the knife at ECS. I will get it out to the track soon for a corvette challenge race. I'm signed up as a rookie but have not gone yet due to some more changes with the car. I also am hoping to get to a track day in order to practice and at least be respectible.
Went T&T at Etown Saturday afternoon. Would you believe it was nearly "importless" Got in 5 runs(coulda' got more) just trying some different things and the car ran decent for the not so good weather conditions. One thing that was impressive (besides the aformentioned "importless" ) was the track conditions, the hook was FANTASTIC!!! I couldn't spin if I tried. Thought I was at Atco

The track is really trying to make the surface consistant, At our last Challenge my 60' were all in .010 of one another and that not easy with any car let alone mine but remember hot weather is coming and with it alot of street tire events.
