Don't bring a full or empty tank. I like to go with about 5 gallons. Too much fuel ways a lot/slows you down, too little and you'll starve your pump. And bring a small rag to clean the shoe polish off your windows when you're done racing.
Practice launching your car from a dead stop too. Familiarize yourself with how the light tree works. It is really embarassing to go up and just sit there at the tree and get a 4 second reaction time.
You need white shoe polish, a rag, a tire gauge, clean the car out, top the fluids except gas, a helmet and know where the lights are. There is a prestage and stage light. Take a walk up to the lanes and find them. Watch a few run before it's your turn. You will find it hard to go home after an evening.

Also find the 1/4 mile beam. Equally as embarassing as sitting at a green light is braking early because you mistake the 1000 foot cone for the 1/4 mile marker. My first pass was a 13.9 at 72mph because I was ahead of a Nissan Altima who was running REALLY slow. I hit the brakes at the 1000 ft mark, all proud of myself for embarassing the guy in the Nissan. I felt like a total tool when I got my time slip.
