Default NHRA finally updates rules!!

For a long time the NHRA street car rules like "you must have a roll bar for any convertible running 13.99 and quicker" and "you must have a driveshaft safety loop" are now dead. These reflect the changing times i.e. safer cars from the factory and w/ the rise of street racing it makes the track more accessible. Now you don't have to have anything extra untill you're < 11.5.

For insurance reasons I still see many tracks keeping the 'old' rules in place.

Rules updated on 6/22/04 here is the link to the rules from an old thread on this topic. http://www.nhra.com/2004/news/june/062202.html

Thanks to this board for bringing this to light some time ago. My track in Syracuse NY has agreed in writing to the rules .

That's awesome but now will the track follow those new rules or keep the old rules for thier own safety

That's the question you have to ask the track. If you read past posts on this topic it seems many tracks are not definitively applying these rules to all races. I've read some tracks apply it only to "Test and Tune" type of events but no elimn's.

My track is satisfied for insurance purposes as long as it is in writing by NHRA. They apply the rules to any racing, be it bracket/elim's or test and tune.

Read the rules on what a Pure Stock car is though. Power-adders are red flag type of deals.

IMO - this rule is best for the verts out there that used to have to hold their car back from dipping below 14.00 or they get they boot. Now verts can run to 11.5 so long as they meet the Pure Stock criteria.

SWEET!
I'd never gotten any flack at any track I've ran at, but it was always in the back of my mind.
