I'm taking my car back to the track on the 31st. The car will be set up for a 200 shot. I'm trying to go 10.50. By the testing last night it shouldn't be a problem.
The question i have is, i'm not going to drive the car. I don't care to go that fast without a rollbar. I for some reason think of the worst case senero..like a blown tire at 130. Can this guy sue me if something happens to him while running my car ? He's volunteering.
In this day and age anyone can sue for anything. That said if your not driving because you feel it is not safe enough, I would install a rollbar before letting anyone drive it. Getting home after the event is whats important, not how fast the car is. Just my 2 cents....... Bob
I wouldn't even drive it that fast with a bar. I have no personal desire to go that fast, but would like to see 2 things, how fast the car will go and if the D-36 will hold up. The car is stable, has no issues.. but anything can happen ?
I have asked this guy several times...apparently he has done this several times before. He goes 8's in his car on a 26X9' hoosier QTP, but has a cage.
You might ask him to sign a waiver of liability. However, NOTHING you sign (have signed) can excuse YOUR of acts of negligence. The block long paragraph of fine print you sign when you enter the pits for competition cannot absolve the track for their acts of negligence. If you knowing allow him to drive a car that doesn't meet accepted safety standards, you MAY be leaving yourself open. Get it in writing, and spell out every negative aspect of the situation you can think of. The fact that you've posted that YOU don't want to drive it, is two strikes against you, if push comes to shove.
If I were you I would feel for him the way I feel for me so if I don't feel safe, I would not expect anyone else to be safe. If the equipment is in your future I would wait.

Mike, I'm sorry and I don't want to come off as a smart A--- but I can't understand your thought process
Why build a fast motor and then compromise on the rest of the car??? That D36 will fall out of the car someday, be it on the line or at 1000' and to run 10' without a bar or the proper safety equipment is nuts but what worse you won't drive it you want to put someone else in it knowing they could get hurt because didn't build the car correctly and your worried about liability.
How do you run under 12.00, nevermind 10.50 without a rollbar? To answer your question, yes, you could be sued and your liability insurance would not cover you, so you are endangering your assets.

Please someone tell me I'm going nut
First of all thanks guys for the honest comments, that's exactly what i was looking for.
As for the motor it wasn't built to go this fast, i had never thought i would. My origional plan was to go mid 12's on motor and a high 11 on a 100 shot. So i build a very tame driveable motor. I achieved the goal and went well beyond. After the 10.98 pass @ 124 we were in the pits looking at the slip and someone suggested a 200 shot. I said yes i could spray it that hard but wouldn't drive it...that's when this guy said he would ?
I have decided to just hold off and decide if i want to put a bar in the car and D-44 to go any faster.
