Does anyone have one of these on their C4? My local track hasn't really hassled me about it, but it's my understanding if you run slicks, you're supposed to have one. Anybody have one and can you tell me how/where you mounted it and possibly post a pic?
Also, I've been reading in the NHRA rule book about half shaft loops. Section 1A, Drivetrain, Rear End...would lead me to believe that I'm supposed to have "axle retention loops". "Cars with independant rear suspension using upper and lower control arms may retain swing axle assembly regardless of weight or ET. Must have 360-degree minimum 1 inch wide by 1/4 inch thick axle retention loop on each axle". Then says "See General Regulations 2:11".
In general regulations 2:11 it says: After market axles and axle retention device mandatory on Top Fuel, Funny Car, etc.....(not going to quote the whole section here).., and 10.99 ET cars;also mandatory on any car (regardless of class or E.T.) with a spool".
Well, I'm not running a spool and my car runs 12 second ET's...this is very confusing..

Safety loops are pretty easy. Jegs and summit have them for not a lot of money. You can attach the main loop to the c channel that surrounds the drive shaft to fully enclose it. Or go to a local fab shop and have them build one for you out of tubing, that way it would fit and look good. That would be pretty trick!
As for the safty loops on the axle shafts, loops probably aren't a bad idea, again a fab shop can do it for you, but your probably allright without them. I think that if your running under a certain e.t. they are required, but I'm not sure how quick it is you have to be running. Hope this helps.
Keep it straight!
Mackay's would be perfect if it is within 6" of the front u joint. Half shaft loops are required at 10.99 on C4's. A different axle or a control arm fix on C3's.
Based on the info and pics you all have provided I think I'm going to get the Summit loop ($24.50) and try to modify it to work similar to the one on the ZR51 web site. It won't look as pretty, but it should work.
It doesn't sound like I need to worry about half shaft loops, since I'm a long way from running in the 10's. ( Except in my dreams )
