JP, would he be better off making it a 98 and using the better LS1????
I dunno.. I know he already has the 97 body .. can he put in a LS1 and run as a 98? He was saying that he thinks the LT1 factory rated at 275 HP is factored to 307 or close to that, & the LS1 is factored higher..
Looks like you and Frankie need to take a ride to LI. Chris and I will be towing ol' Satan out that way week after Christmas...maybe you/Frank could work a deal with Chris.
JP, thats a no brainer, the LS1 is a much better motor even with the additional weight.
If he's a serious racer he need to call someone like Woodro Josey, or Al Corda and get everything he need from them.
Last year he ran a Big Block Camaro B/SA & was running 1.3 under the index for B/SA I dont know who does his motors, but he ran well last year... I'm guessing he will be competitive no matter which motor he goes with..
I will have to ask him who is gonna do his computer chip... ?

Be careful as not all Gen II V8s are 350" blocks. Can't remember if all Gen II alum heads are same either but ls1.com also disscuses/has sources for Gen II LT1 cars/mtrs - tech section describes all Gen II applications/sizes. Haven't seen any Gen II 350" at the boneyards. Last few weeks been looking for seat belts for my C3 ('93 & later rear belts work). No late model cars in the pick-ur-own yards. But ya know i think u can swap a Gen I block into the late model cars and still be smog legal even in California. A swap may take a referee but as long as it passes the gas test should be no big deal as it's not such a big change - smog operator may not even notice.
BTW i can still find 400" sb's at the boneyards. Plenty of roller camed 350"s too. Man its tempting to drag one home (400" for only $200) as they will get thin/scarse before long.
Hope this can help. cardo0
