Rev kits require a lot of extra components in the lifter valley. They also make cam changes and cam timing adjustments very difficult. If you are running a hydraulic roller, the benefit is questionable. For a solid roller and higher rpm they are very common - they are used by lots of circle track and road race motors.
Some cam manufacturers also like them for street use because the rollers don't bounce around as much and it reduces the spring pressure required to control the valves. Others say it doesn't help street motors at all. Personally I'm using a rev kit on a dual purpose street road race car, but it is a pain.
I'd call some cam manufacturers and get their opinion on your application.
I've run it for ~14,000 street miles...including ~360 track miles with no issues. I added it along with some beehive springs so can't comment if it was to blame for a lack of valve float to 6800 rpm or not.
CC hydro lifters along with GM 847 camshaft with 595 lift.
Are Rev Kits A Must On Ls6 346ci Road Race Only Motor? I'm Thinking Cheap Insurance. Any Downside To Installing Them?
Used primarily for "solid lifter roller" style camshafts to help avoid lifter bounce at high RPMs because of the cams profile. A LOT of extra junk under the intake to break and fall apart. Not for the faint of heart. I wouldn`t use them in a non competition engine that is not frequently torn down.

Unless there is a compelling reason to run them, I would not. Too many little parts to break and bang around ruining everything else. since cam manufacturers are divided on the issue, evaulate the benefits before taking the risk.
