Default Head gasket diameter question

simple question, but would like peoples opinion on whats out there.

It's a 350( L98). Bored .040. I was told the Fel=Pro gaskets for standard bore can cover up to a .060 over bore. I always used to get the proper diameter for the application. But wanted to know if this is true?( Not that they make a 4.040 gasket anyway). SO A 4.100 will work on this correct? I dont want it to be too big.

I'm looking at the FPP-1094( summitracing ofcourse). But it has a compressed thickness of .015. My engine @TDC is .026. Which give a height of only .041.
The cam has a max of .512 lift.
Anything else I need to look at? I just want a HG that works, but isnt to thin.
Was also looking at the FPP-1043. Its' 4.080 & .039 thickness. CV of 8.2 But says it's for aluminum heads. I didnt think it made a difference.

I'm about to just order the summit engine gasket kit & call it a day..LOL

The smaller the gasket bore the better, so long as it doesn't hang over the edge of the bore. That minimizes the crevice volume. The 4.080" x .039" gasket is the better sealing choice, but with a .026" deck height, you can hardly get a gasket thin enough. For the best results you should deck the block for .005" to .000" deck clearance and use the .039" gasket.

Piston to valve clearance is addressed as a separate matter.

RACE ON!!!
