I have an 85 that i switched over to a carb and when i did it i used a holley blue pump, but i don't like the noise so i was thinking i could put a mechanical pump on it ?
I have a regulator so which pump is recommended to support 450-500 HP ? I was also looking for one that has an adjustable lower or fuel inlet base and is reliable.
Do to engine heat all big block and the better small blocks came with a 1/4 fuel return line to keep them from getting vapor lock.
So like my 79 L-82 came with the return, which I would highly recomend. NAPA auto parts lists them at $49.99. ask them about the state government discount rate. Then it will be in the mid $30's
My buddy ran his return line into a hole that he punched close to the filler neck. the line pointed down towards the tank. The return line pumps use the turn as regulation so it doesn't need an external regulator.
My old motor put out about 425-435 hp at the crank. I used a 6lb Carter mech pump from PAW (about 49 bucks) had 0 problems, didn't need a regulator and was adjustable
I have a return line in the car, and have a friend with a holley black and a -8 return line and i think his is still too loud for a daily driver. I'm talking driven every, every day.
