Default ALLOY HEADS FOR 406ci

Just wondering if you guys have any recommendations on heads for a 406 with 10.5 to 1 and a mid size hyd cam . Max revs 5500 and need
to retain a fair amount of torque. Was thinking e
edelbrock vtr jnr 215cc.

Also who is the cheapest in us for purchase of such. I have to organise from australia and have picked up by a friend.

For those cubes and revs 190-200 ccs ought to be plenty.

My AFR's are currently 207cc and with a 242/248@.050 solid roller it pulls strong just past 7000rpm. This is with a Victor Jr. Intake. Talk to Motorhead, he has the Victor Jr. heads and has been very impressed with how they work on his 406.

In that case, My range was too high. How about 170-185. That isn't much over the stock rpm range for a 400.

VIc. Jrs are great heads, mine were cc'ed and came out to 219cc's. You have to match parts, no point in going with big heads for the RPM range you want. Match the heads to the cam, if you don't want to rev it then you probably good with head at or under 200cc, Sportsman II or if you want aluminum you can't beat AFR. If you want to make some serious power get the VIc Jr's, bump the CR up to 11:1 toss in a solid roller cam and hold on

You have to think about a complete package. If your heads are FelPro 1205 intake then buy a manifold that fits that. Headers also. VJ heads require the 1206 gasket which is a big single plane and your going to need the big headers to make it work

Just look at the spec's

See if there is a Pro Topline distributor in your area, I believe they are made where you are from.

215c.c. is too big based on what you're talking about. I'd look at 190-200 c.c.

i read an arcticle in a mag where they built a 406 and used 180 afr's, i think it made peak power at about 5600 rpm, Ill see if i can find the arcticle and post a link
what do you know, theres a link to it right on afr's website, this sint a direct link, after you get there click on article at the top and then 490 HP 406 ci AFR 180 cc http://www.airflowresearch.com/
