Ran across one for sale in the local paper for $25.00. Curious if this would be a good manifold to use on my 454. I've already latched onto a set of '71 '292 heads that have had a street port job, ARP screw in studs, Manley guide plates, Crane dual valve springs, bronze valve guides, Manley stainless 2.19 intake valves/1.875 exhaust valves. Haven't decided on a cam yet. Will be using headers and an automatic tranny with the proper stall for the cam we select, and a 3.73 rear gear ratio.
The motor is being built for street use only. Hoping for something in the 400 HP range.
Ive recently got one but am in the process of modifying it to bolt onto rec port heads. Ive improved the bend where runner meets head and increased the cross section (raised the roof) of where the runner starts in the plemum and added small runner extensions into the plenum. It will be a while before it is finished so I cant comment on how it will work.
There was a post on this in the C3 section a week or two ago by a guy called Mike. Someone else had tried one on their 454 and were very happy with the results and said they could lug it down low in top gear.
The manifold has smallish runners with a small plenum so it should have good street manners, looks a better design than the Torquer II to me.
$25 is a bargain, both myself and Mike paid $75 and I thought that fair. Are we talking part number 300-3? Mine will be a more expensive test, what with $40 sea freight, probably $100 welding bill, $70 to remill faces to suit my angle milled heads plus about 15 hours of my time.
