Need some insight about 700R4 lockup converters. I have a manual toggle switch to engage my lockup in 4th gear only. I’m very careful to only use it when in 4th gear and off the throttle. This weekend it failed to engage. The switch has power and turns red when I flip it. But no lockup. It’s worked for 4 years now. It’s on a 9.5 inch converter with a larger lockup solenoid.
What is the best way to test it? I have not looked at it in awhile, but it seemed to me that the selinoid unbolts and I could apply power to it to see if it is infact moving. Then the only other piece would be the converter.
You're right. Just drop the pan and you'll find two bolts hold it in. But first check that power is getting to the solenoid through the connecter in the side of the trans and that ground is good. Then check solenoid operation when power is applied. If it is bad, most everybody carries them nowdays. NAPA and Advance I know carry them. Hershey
