I was reading some specs on various SBC pistons and came across a foot note and a table indicating use of a specific rod length in 4 specific cylinders.
For example: In reference to piston part # 14011020, a 12.5 comp dome forged piston, the note reads: "use with 5.7" rod in cylinders 2, 3, 6, 7."
There is no indication what the length of the rods should be in the remaining 4 bores; should they be the same or different??
I thought I knew something about SBCs , but apparently this one slipped by me. What is up w/ this?
the piston will only work on those cylinders because of valve arrangement, that and it only has two valve cutouts instead of four like normal compression pistons have.

From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
They are just stating that particular piston uses a 5.7 in rod and can only be used in certain cylinders, I am not sure why but you can bet it has to do with the dome hitting something.
You need 2 parts numbers for a full set of pistons and the other part number (14011021) will fill the remain holes using the same 5.7in. rods.
