I have a 383 stroker in a 68 corvette and operating temp is about 210, so I was thinking of mounting a fan assisted oil cooler and remote oil filter where the spare tire carrier used to be. Is this to far of a run?? I am running a Hi-Po oil pump.
210 is not a big deal. If I ran my 383 hard, like out making laps it was often 230+ But it would cool right back off to 190 (My thermostat) when you slowed down.
You need a certian amount of heat to keep the water........ and other things boiled out of the oil.
Now if your radiator can't handle the job and you need additional cooling. Your oil cooler idea will work if you use 1/2 inch ID lines and some kind of a thermal cooler bypass to stop coller flow when the motor is cold.
I've also seen them placed in the side fender vents.

Thanks, that is what I was looking for, my temp does not come down to 190 maybe 200. I plan on using 1/2" line and a bypass as you suggested.
