Oh man I love your Camaro!
I want one so bad. But the ones around Denver that are for sale seem to have seen a lot of really hard miles, are ready for restoration, and people want a lot for them, like top dollar.
Patience is a virtue though. I'll keep looking, and one of these days I'll probably find a really nice Camaro with a very tired or blown up engine that I can get for a good deal.
Then build a tuned port, 377 with twin turbochargers.
And then commute to work in it!
Yep, Frank's car is a real sleeper. The engine install is super clean. JD, I really appreciate you geting us hooked up a couple of months ago, I enjoyed talking to him and "comparing notes". No doubt he's probably surprised alot of street racer's.
As mentioned, 18* heads are the key. There's no substitute for 350+ cfm of intake flow, normally aspirated.
Small world man! Yes we we're there. Nice NSX!!! Fairfield actually. Franks White 1982 Carbed Z28/383 was next to it. I got the privelage to drive the IROC to the show and back home! It's a situation where I love that Car almost as much as the owner loves His Car! It's one trick auto. LOL I warned Frank... If I hit the lotto,or won BIG $$$...get that title ready, and say goodbye!
Thanks for the kind words.
Monty, call him at the Ristorante sometime and let him know your progress. He's excited to hear how your car runs!

Wow that thing is a sleeper... probably shocks half the east coast.
Can you post all of the specs of this set-up including things such as heads, compression, tranny, gearing, cam profile, more information on that intake would be great too... and where does he shift ?
Nice to see this getting interest. It's one trick piece and at the shows...'cause it looks like a stock car, a POS Monte Carlo gets more looks . I guess that's what having a sleeper will do 'TIL YOU POP THE HOOD!
Now.... I believe it has a Mechanical Roller Camshaft. 605/590 236/244@.050(fairly mild) 1.6 Jesel shaft mounted RR's(I have a pic of the valve covers off when He recently had the valves adjusted). 36 pound injectors...fuel system from hell! braided lines all over the place. 18* Bowtie Nascar heads, 2" Headers, Billet bottom end..10:9 CR.. I'll get more info on the intake. Vig 3200 Stall Convertor..HELPLESS 700R4 hehe. 3.54 Dana 44. Recently installed Convertor lockup switch. I'm pretty sure it likes to be shifted around 67/6800.. though when I was in it..the tach VIOLENTLY swung to 7000 like a little 302 or small motor! the thing is purely nuts.
Whats nice about it...is that it's a DE-TUNED motor.. it has a lot more in it. Unlike the Stage II LPE/TT's they're CRANKED to the max and on the edge..while this motor yawns and runs TOTALLY on pump fuel. If I had my choice.. I would take a motor like this over a TT any day. JMHO. I'd be happy to answer any more questions if you have any. Frank doesn't get a chance to get on here much.
Yeah, it's done. The only thing I'm waiting for is to get the headers made, I'm scheduled for the 1st week of August, and the rack and pinion kit.
I'll probably take it over to a chassis dyno just out of curiousity, to see how much is really lost due to drivetrain. I just have a hard time accepting the fact that the same % of loss is appropriate for a 400hp motor as for a 650hp motor. 20% of 400 is 80, 20% of 650 is 130 (50hp is a big difference in my opinion), I just can't see why that would be true, all things equal.
