I purchased a set of Hedman Headers for my 85 (their set that doesn't have air inj fittings) and the right header is so tight against the vertical portion of the passanger side floor well that I cannot get the collector flange between them. The left side looks fine.
I squeezed the collector flange in there, but I took them off after beginning to break in the cam (had to take off anyway until I get a heated O2 sensor) because I was worried it would eventually wear a hole in my floor.
Sounded pretty cool uncapped in my polebarn....
Anyone else try them?
Thanks,
Carl

I put mine on my 84, same thing as you. I ground the collector flange ring flat in the area of intersection, haven't had any problems with it. I am going to take them off and have them coated soon, will look to see if it rubs, but I checked it for awhile right after installing them and no problems. The engine torques on the mounts the other way and the only thing I thought of was that it could rebound and touch when you let off the gas....
I bought they entinre system off a forum member with an 85, when I put them on my 90 with AFR heads I was close to the passenger side floor, but was not actually hitting it. I was worried like you but no damage after a year. Now if your actually hitting the floor, thats a different story.
What heads are you using?
I hit those headers on anything and everything. they are so beat up now they leak, I installed new gaskets, they leak still. I removed and inspected them, cant find where they leak from.
I went back to the stock exhuast.
I also picked up TPIS headers, but still figuring out my system so I am holding off installing them for now.
