Default Fuel injection FUEL PUMP question

I have a "general" fuel injection (in the tank) fuel pump question. If the pump in the tank is "weak" must i replace it OR can i add another external pump???

Thanks in advance. ...redvetracr

If it were my car, I would remove the intank pump, if you're going to run an external pump like a Weldon or Aeromotive. I know of a few people who have added external pumps and kept the internal pump in place, but unpowered. They don't seem to have any problems. 88Whitevette converted his 88 to a carb, and left his stock intank EFI pump in place but unpowered. He added an inline electric carb fuel pump, his car runs very well.

When i converted to carb, i left the stock pump in and ran an inline low press race pump. I hooked it up where it sucks the fuel from the tank through the return line going to the bottom of the tank.

You can swap your stock intank pump with a Walbro 255 mustang intank pump. It goes right in.
