I am getting ready to install these on my 91 L-98. I remember reading somewhere of an easier way to adjust them by turning over the engine twice. Adjust half the rockers at a time instead of turning it over several times. Can any one post the procedure. Thanks for any help.
Ok finally got it , server has been down at work.
make sur engine is on #1 firing order, tdc.
-with engine in #1 firing position adjust the following valves:
EXHAUST--1, 3, 4, 8
INTAKE----1, 2, 5, 7
Now crank the engine 1 full revolution until the marks(timing) line up again,
now you can adjust the following valves:
EXHAUST---2, 5, 6, 7
INTAKE-----3, 4, 6, 8
another method i sometimes use is to cut the top off an old distributor cap. number the cyls on the cap. put the cut cap on and adjust the cyl that the rotor is pointing to.
Larry, I agree that you should not use the 'two rotation' spin method of valve adjustment if you have anything other than a stock camshaft. Believe the added lift/duration of aftermarket camshaft can make this method and inaccurate method of adjustment resulting in possibly setting some valves too loosely. My experience has been that I've also been more successful with the push rod 'jiggle' rather than spin method, which I found to sometimes result in a valve setting which is too tight. It's easier for me to adjust till there is no more up/down push rod 'jiggle', and then go 1/2 to 3/4 turn tighter.
I would be suprised if you could set all the valves with a 2 spin method. I use almost the same method Starting with #1 on the firing TDC. But then I move it to BDC, then TDC and fianally BDC. My method works with any cam and is quicker then bumping the motor over.

O K guys, I just got back from vacation and read the posts. I went to Chicago for a reunion with my Viet Nam Veteran friends. 33 years since I saw them. Didn't even know some of them were alive! A very good and bad time. We were infantry during the year of Tet Offensive. We tried to talk about what has happened since 1968 not before or during 1968. Thaks to everyone for asking, now you know.
