Default adjusting TV cables

i have opted to go carb in lieu of EFI and am having trouble adjusting the TV cable on my 700r4 with holley carb. i am familiar with the cable adjustment, as i have done it many times before, but i can't get it to click at all @ WOT while connected to the carb. does the tv cable need to be shortened?
thanks in advance

To take all the guess work out of TV cable adjusting I installed a 300 lbs pressure gauge.

I shortened my years ago with a lead ball fishing weight crimped on at the end of the cable. Now I use 8 inch zip ties as quick adjustment spacers. Just zip em on and clip the end off. I think right now I have four on and it shortened the line nearly a half inch. I couldn't ever find a carb/tv cable mount that ever worked.

I am currently talking to a company called Bow Tie Overdrives about getting a complete 700R4 package. They claim to have the 'ultimate' kit for this. Web site at: http://www.tvmadeez.com

I have not tried this myself, but it looks good.

i bought the holley throttle/tv cable linkage bracket for the 700r4. everything lines up good, do i simply need to make the line taught and push the throttle wide open or do i need to set the cable manually(trial and error)?
thanks again

I recently performed this adjustment, take a look at these related threads to see if any of the information is useful to you.

Bowtie Overdrives 700R4 TV cable / Q-jet adapter adjustment. I'm having trouble.

700R4 line pressure readings. Anyone know what it should be?

I performed a pressure test on my 700R4 today and called Bowtie Overdrives to confirm results.

My line pressure is adequate and the TV cable adjustment seems to be OK but I still need to work on firming up the 1-2 shift and do some experimenting with the governor to get my shift points exactly where I want them to be.

i have been adjusting the cable manually and have gotten it farily close to what i want. i can't hammer on the car too much being the motor is fresh. hughes performance makes a lever that bolts on to holley's so i might pick one of those up.
thanks for your help
