Re: Req Tech info on TRW L2300F forged piston (StrayDog)
Have you called TRW? Even Summit Racing's tech line can help you. just tell them you're interested in a set of pistons and need the specs. Go to the source!
Cory
P.S. are you saying that you installed new heads on an engine with domed pistons without getting the specs? You must like spending money....
Re: Req Tech info on TRW L2300F forged piston (CHarris85Vette)
CORY......The L 2300F piston is the correct aftermarket piston for a 427 , resulting in a 10.2 compression ratio with 96.4 CC chevy heads , Endlebrock tech advised me that there would be no clearence problems with the Alum performer heads with 110 CC, & after 8 ,000 miles no problems, BUT now contiplating a Cam change ( comp cams Xtreme energy 262 ) , as my RPM range is 1300 t0 5500 rpm .....with occasional bursts to 6,000 redline & desire the specifics of the TRW 2300 f , in advance.

TRW piston part numbers tech info is on the web somewhere. I found it when looking for dome cc for my pistons, but alas can't find it now in my bookmark file. I also have a "bunch" of piston dome cc info at home, will try to remember to look tonight and see if your pistons are in my list.
Re: Req Tech info on TRW L2300F forged piston (StrayDog)
For anyone looking, the other info is in the C2 group. Anyway, I checked my Chevy parts listing last night, and they list the dome volume as 16.8cc -vs- the 17.7cc of the NHRA spec. Guess they give you a 0.9cc "margin" to work with. Hey, maybe that's what they mean when they say their car is "more stock" than yours :D .
Re: Req Tech info on TRW L2300F forged piston (StrayDog)
I've run those before....
You have to be REAL careful with Piston to valve clearance with 2.19 intakes. The depth is usually OK into the .620 range at least, BUT ck real close at the edges of the valve pocket. I found that the valve can just barely kiss the edge of the pocket even though the depth looks good. Especially an issue if you have much cylinder clearance and have any piston rock.
If you have a very aggresive cam you might need to do a little work in the bottom of the pocket.
The same issue occurs with the TRW's for 390 Hp 454's and the replacements for '71 LS-6's. Even though they will handle the 2.19's they don't like much lift.
