I think I remember a few memebers had a problem with the eldebrock intake (Think he needed to grind it down), I would look to accel or tpis. I have the Accel and a super ram, no problems here.

You're wasting your money if you've got stock heads and exhaust. Port the stock base and runners instead of spending $600+ on the big runners.

The TPIS is an Edelbrock port matched to AS&M runners. I bought the Edelbrock setup and had a lot of fit problems and a lot of port work to do. After all that work, it only flowed 8% better than a fully ported stock setup.

i don't think you can port the stock runners. as far as the larger long tube the ASMs are the best. TPIS uses the ASM runners.

I have seen a few negative things about the Edelbrock/TPIS piece here. I'd go with the Accel as I haven't heard anything bad about it yet.

I recently received my Accel base intake and intend on installing it in two weeks time. So far I've just had to grind away a little bit of excess casting from the ports but overall it looks like a good piece. When I do the swap, I'll post it if there is a noticeable difference (on the SOTP dyno that is ) Current mods are in my sig (except for some minor exhaust mods).

Not sure if I WILL notice a difference but I bought the intake now for three reasons:
1. I understand that the intake on L98's is designed for a 305ci motor and is therefore a restriction in the motor.
2. I know alot of (most) ads claim way more hp for parts than they actually deliver, but if Lingenfelter claims 15-20hp on an otherwise stock L98 in their catalogue I think (hope?) that their claim is a little more reliable than those made by others.
3. I got it really cheap on a group purchase.

Don't know if there is enough 'meat' on the stock runners to allow any significant porting... I've heard that of the large tube runners available, Arizona Speed & Marine's runners fit the best.

I'm hearing people saying this, so I just want to add: the stock runners can be ported - mine had a subtle bump where the flange attaches to the runners.

My feeling is that you can look past the upper and the runners. Look into doing some work on the lower intake. The TPI is made for a 305. So anyways, what I did on the lower was to knock out some of the wall that divides the tracts. Now, any intake valve will suck air from two runner tubes. This should help upper rpm breathing. Look ino the "thirdgen.org" site. Those guys do quite a bit of work on their camaro intakes. You'll see what I mean. Good luck.

Having both the Accell and TPIS/Edlebrock base manifold, I would go for the Accell. I was disappointed with the casting flash of the edlebrock, other have had alignment issues. I like my TPIS/AS&M runners.
