Default Running alcohol...Whats needed?

Pump gas 358 solid roller motor, est 560 chp.

With these crazy roadside smog check points, Ive started to wonder about mixing alcohol w/gas or running straight alky?

I hear it burns superclean and cool (lousy mileage?)....

Running a Holley Double Pumper. Not running yet, but dont wanna get nailed by these roadside sensors when it is.

Where do I start, whats needed and is it worth it?

Or, would mounting a stoichmeter and getting it as perfect as possible on pump gas alone keep me safe from this garbage? For a broader idea of where Im going with this....Pages 2 and 3...

you would need an alki modded carb for full time.

I used to run 20% methanol and show up for the sniffer annual smog test and pass with flying colors. I would then just go out and run it on through. I bought 55 gallon drums for my race car.

The problem is that you burn twice as much alki as gasoline. Which is not that big of a deal now that gas is so high. Ethanol doesn't have the corrisive problems that Methanol has. But either one is best used with additives

Ill get cremated on the lack of smog equiptment, but Im running a pretty healthy solid roller (mid .250's @.050, just under .700 lift.
Methanol will help tame what comes out of the pipe?

Hoping if it helps me get past these sensors......I refuse to drive a stocker, Id rather sell the car if it came to that.

like I said 20% methanol which you can get at any circle track or drag strip always made my vette and other vehicles pass. 20% is about the maximum amount that will dillute in gasoline without additives. Higher quantities actually separate out so you get a layer of gas and a layer of methanol.

Methanol burns and only puts out water and CO2. The 20% also causes your motor to run lean so your hydrocarbons and CO go way down. They fail me because of lack of other devices like no emmision equipment and lack of unleaded fuel restrictor in the tank.

Another idea that I saw years ago was the overdriven air pump. The thing was blowing so much air out that it passes the sniffer. years ago in Las Vegas I had a single cat that kept in my garage and just bolted it up on one side per year for the test. They put the sniffer in that pipe and I was "CAT" equiped

Interesting points, the 20% Methanol and the overdriven pump, something to think about for sure. THanks

Alky burns cool and clean but it also burns invisible in the daylight. Another problem you will have is to double your fuel delivery system and is really not OEM fuel parts friendly. Your better off stock.
