Just Completed Trans Go Shift Kit Install 700R4- One Problem
The first three shifts feel pretty good. When I shift move the selector into 4 (OD) it doesnt make the shift. It stays in 3rd and then after maybe 5 seconds it sometimes makes a lousy (loose and lazy) shift into 4th. THird gear feels real tight when I have the selector in 3 but, when I put selector into 4th and the trans stays in third ,third is slippery. What do you think I need to go back and check out?

I had the same thing happen to my trans. It eventually lost fourth gear totally. local trans. guys couldn't or wouldn't tell me what was wrong or how to fix it other than rebuild. had it rebuilt once. within 6 months went out again. :mad :mad :mad . rebuilder ( using this term loosly) said drop car off for a week or so and he would figure it out. YA RIGHT Finally bought a trans from TPI in Indaina. shifts hard in four gears still working out the shift points and part throttle shifting it takes time put i am pleased

My trans worked good through all four gears until I installed the shift kit. It has to be something I did wrong on the shift kit install.I thought I was careful on every step but it must be some little thing. I'm trying to find out where to look first.

Yep, something with the install. I did mine several months back and almost missinstalled one of the parts. If I hadn;t triple checked everything I'd probably be in the same boat.
It could be a misplaced ball, or one installed when it should have been left out or left out when it should have been installed.
Not being a tranny guy (and not able to recall the names of all the parts) and since I don't know where my instructions are now, I can't call out the name of the part to check. I do remember that there is one piece that you must be really careful to install correctly.
Seems like it was a hole toward the side the vavle body, maybe the size of a half dollar, that the piece fits into and MUST go up to a groove.
Wish I could call out the name of the part to help you better.
Best bet, though, is to drop the pan again and check everything. If you don't you may end up paying for a rebuild.
Easier and cheaper to do it now.
Hopefully someone that knows a lot more about trannys than I do will chime in with the needed info.

Not neccessarily. If the tranny has not been regualry maintained, a transmission oil change will cuase the tranny to slip. I would still double check everything.

I'll take it apart again later in the week and double check each step. I'm just hoping one of you transmission guys out there can give me some ideas which area is most likely causing the problem.
