Jacobs Ignition Systems
Just curious whether anyone is running their stuff and whether it made any difference. Their ad copy seems to be making some pretty big claims... Please let me know any experiences you've had with them, positive or negative (no pun intended, for once).

I went through a couple of 6AL's So I bought the new Jacobs 2000 for the rev limiter. I took it back for two reasons - it's anolog and it uses plugins for rev limiter rpm. Also the plugins on 6AL's or Jocobs are not all that accurate. It also seems to me that Jacobs pluggin denominations were bigger than 100 rpm.
The real problem with anolog is they use random misfire to control rpm limits. Random means that some cylinders might never skip a beat and some cylinders might skip successive firings. So you get raw gas issues. IMO anolog does not shut a motor down fast enough. I had valve train failure because at WOT the tacometer tell tail had exceeded the rev limiter by @500 rpm.
I use the Crane 6R If I had it to do over again I would have got the all in one box with programmed in choices of advance curves.

I drive a BBC Suburban with a Whipple SC, mild boost and stock engine. When I installed the Jacobs there was a noticable difference in power and I picked up 2 mpg.
So it made a difference, and will eventually pay for itself with the price of fuel.
