Default Fuel Supply Question

I am now encountering a problem with my 3.55. I had a new XE274 installed in it. When I really stand on it and get to about 5,000 rpms or it shuts down. If you let off the gas it jumps back to life. Fuel supply problem right?
I am using a new Gm high performance mech pump and 3/8 braid fuel line hose from the pump to the fuel tee, it then reduces to 1/4 (-6) to the primeries and 1/4 braided hose to the secondaries. The fuel gauge reads 6 Psi standing still and reving the engine to 4k, but that doesn't really mean I have enough fuel under load and at 5k + right? Should I change the entire line to 3/8? Any suggestions. (650 Speed Demon w/ twin squirters.)
Thanks for your help!

Bud,
A 1/4 Tee is too small and is not -6(it would be -4). Aeroquip "style" hose and fittings are measured in sixteenths, a -6 hose is 6/16 or 3/8",like a-8 is 8/16 or 1/2".I also hope your measuring everything on the inside.

The Russle hose from the fuel pump is 3/8. 3/8 npt x -6 flare. It connects to the tee 3/8 npt x #6 flare (11/16 nut). there are three outlets in the tee, two 1/4 npt x -6 flare and one 1/8 npt for gauge. The hose inside the ss braiding may be 3/8?
The hose connects to the carb with 9/16 x 24 Tpi # 6 flare adaptor. I have a picture of the fuel line at my web site.
Is the fuel line too small or pump too small?

Sounds like your problem may be before the pump. Might be the sock in the tank, a filter plugged before pump, a squashed hardline, etc.

74,
I believe you may have hit on something, and honestly I never even considered. I had the gears changed about three months ago and the fuel line could have been damaged. The filter is over three years old and may be partically blocked. If either case is true, it sure would starve the fuel pump.

Thank you for your response.

Changed the fuel filter and it seemed to really help.
Thanks again.
