Question for those high horsepower types.
My Vortech blown 383 now puts out 585 rwhp. This is non inter cooled with the water injection shut off. I added 1 gallon of Tolouene to hslf a tank of Sunoco 93. I figure octaine is about 96.5 . This gave me the opportunity to raise timing to 30 degrees.
I gained 15 rwhp across the dyno curve. Power peaks@5800rpm.
Anyone running a blower with more Timing/ octaine levels??
I used to have an old Hilborn book and it devoted a chapter to how to use every kind of blend imaginable. Toluene was on the unhealthy list for not just your motor. I always used methanol blends in my drag bike because of the massive cooling effect. The forum chemistry majors might disagree with me, But Methanol is equivalent to 150 octane. When blended at 25 or less % you don’t get separation. So a simple formula would be 92+92+92+150=426 426/4=106.5 octane. All you have to do is really run the mixture rich because you burn methanol at twice the rate of gasoline. IMO it ran better and cooler than 105 or 110 race gas.
One of the newer NO2 devices is a separate fuel tank for the spray system. The use of very high octane is required to keep detonation down. Alky is the new hot item to put in the little fuel cell.
