im in the process of buying a c-5 convertable & i want to put a stroker motor in it. since i live in indiana both lingenfelter & mallett are close & both offer about the same packages.......i know lingenfelter history a little better but i thought i would ask the experts.......& those who have either or.....please give feedback on wihich you prefer..........thanks
I tend to lean towards the lingenfelter myself. The guy really knows what he's doing...not that the people at mallett don't, but lingenfelter sure has for many years proven himself worthy. Don't forget that it's going to cost you a pretty penny either way you go! Or you could go the way I did and find a guy who is not as well known but really knows his stuff, which will save you alot of money cause you're not paying more for the name. Good luck!
you might also consider that Lingenfelter is a drag racer and mallet is more of a roadracing shop. Not sure what your planned use is, but you might want to consider that.
I would also look into Agostino Racing. Being a Canadian shop gives them a great advantage due to current exchange rates, and they have plenty of experience with LS1's.
I managed to get a ride in a DRM C500 RSR Z06 around Road Atlanta OMG that was pure heaven.
Between the choices go with LPE for the motor, and Mallett for suspension. Unless you have $ for a supercharged Mallett 435. How much are those beasts anyway? If you're just into drag racing an auto with a LPE stage 1 twin turbo ran 10s.
409Vette has a very impressive setup and I like how the car looks. DRM & Mallett also make impressive cars. I would sit down and and write out what you want after looking at each of their web sites and then get a firm bid on each.
This year at the all corvette drags I saw some impresive vette's from each of them. Another option is search around and from time to time some very special Vette's pop up for good prices including modified Calloway's and true race machines that are street legal. I know of one person with a highly moded DRM ZR1 with 700 ish rear wheel hp on NO2. Sometimes you can get those for $50-75K Which is 50% of what it cost to build them.
I was at Mallett's shop on Saturday, and man does he have some nice stuff there. He has a Black Coupe with a Supercharged 9:1 427 C5R block. Something in the 600-650 rwhp on pump gas. I'm sure most of the shops already mentioned can do a good job, and I think Mallett would also.
