Default New idea for CarbedC4

I see your considering new options for powa, how about Brodix's new 18x it uses normal 23*vavletrain equipment. It flows 325cfm out of the box, should be good for about 650hp, if you went with a fat mechanical roller you'd be makin a whole shiznit load.

Just think how slow you'd look at the streeties with no blower or blue bottle, but the same old performance.

holy crap 325 cfm! thats a ton of flow... I wonder how much low end id lose with that kinda head? Im gonna look up the specs on that head right now and the price. Hopefully selling my AFR 190's would pay for most/part of a set of those. a 23 degree head that flows like that out of the box is really something...hmmm..........ill throw the specs of that head into desktop dyno 2000 and see what it comes out to and post it. thanks keith

well i looked them up and heres what the website shows: http://www.brodix.com/Catalog/Heads/...y/18X/18x.html
they are 2.14/1.60 valves (thats a huge intake valve)
they are 302/217 cfm @ .500 and 321/230 @ .600
I cant figure out the runner size (im guessing like 220-230??)

well does anyone know if this head is streetable?? would a swap like this kill driveability? i wouldnt think so. any comments??

i was just looking at summit cat., they show the int runners on the brodix's
to be 244cc!,man thats big, i may be wrong but seems like it would be kinda piggy below 3500-4000 and prob. need to spin 7500 to get the goody out of them, just curious what about intake and headers with 18degs?,the pre-ported pro 1s look good for the $, 318+230,don't say but prob. @ .700+28 inch h2o, like to see lower lift #s,anyway this with 227cc int.
btw combo you have now looks VERY strong, i'm trying to keep myself from going carb but not out of the question, i also have 383, running through stock tpi, feels like its sucking through a straw, miniram=$$$$.

Wayne
p.s. took your advice on the 2151 headers, only minor mod to one flange due to tfs g2 heads, worked out very well thanks!

Here's a copy of a post on GregP's thread I made last week regarding the Brodix 18x heads, with some of the specific details and requirements:

I was looking at the Brodix catalog and the 18x heads do require 18* pistons, but they don't cost any more than regular custom pistions really. I ordered a set of custom JE 18* pistons for my motor and they were $74 each. The 18x heads require ARP head studs for 18* heads which feature a 3/8" stud between the two center exhuast springs, but that's no big deal either. You can use standard lifters and standard 7/16" roller rockers or you can use Jesel/T&D shaft mounted 40/60 spaced shaft mounted if you want. You will need custom length pushrods as well, but that's not a big deal either. Just mock it up with an adjustable pushrod to determine your required length and then just order what you need. Also, Brodix says that the heads use a standard 10* intake face angle.
Here's Brodix's out of the box flow chart (cfm @ 28")

LIFT----------Intake--------Exhaust
.200-----------157.0---------122.3
.300-----------212.4---------164.2
.400-----------259.6---------199.6
.500-----------302.6---------217.3
.600-----------318.9---------226.0
.650-----------321.6---------229.9
.700-----------325.2---------232.5

Those are kickass numbers. For comparison, my Dart CNC ported 18* heads were flow tested and made:

Lift--------------- Intake---------Exhaust
.200-----------------132----------111
.300-----------------197----------188
.400-----------------258----------224
.500-----------------309----------242
.600-----------------346----------253
.700-----------------355----------260

As you can see, those Brodix heads flow extremely well at low lifts and flow 300+ cfm from .500" up. The exhaust ports are pretty good too. For $2200 complete, they are a very good deal.

Sorry CarbedC4, didn't mention that the 18x means that they are an 18* head. Figured since you had the cowl hood it wouldn't be a problem, the price seems sorta high, but your saving alot of money by avoiding the use of the Jesel style vavletrain.

So did anyone use a Desktop dyno for some combos on these heads?
