Timing Chain Thrust bearing thickness?
I need a new timing gear set and the one I took off (JP Performance 5981T) had a thin thrust roller bearing on the camshaft side of the cam sprocket.
I can order the same unit with the Line Bore option but I would rather get a Cloyes and I don know how you determine this thrust washer/bearing spacing.
Engine is a 406ci
EDIT: I popped the existing bearing off the sprockets and it measures @ .125" so it looks like a .150" bearing is the deal,,, the other option is an .030" or something substantially thinner
Any ideas?

If you start changing the thickness of the thrust bearings you will be changing the gear alignment and where the lifters will be riding on the lobe and if its moved enough you may ge interfearance with the lobe and lifter.
We use the Cloyes 9-3100A which is the Hex-A-just as it comes with a torrington bearing and you can dial in the exactly where you want it.
Good luck with your build Carl

(ie: to compensate for line-boring)
available in .005 & .010 reduced center distance applications. Certain
applications available in .015. Call Factory for availability.
To order a reduced C.D. set, simply add the suffix to the part number,
for example 9-3100 - 005.
Did you settle on a 2-pc cover, LD85?

Gonna stay with the 1-piece for now, but when I do buy one I found a nice 2-piece for $208
