I haven't owned one, but I'll give you my $.02 worth. It would be a perfectly fine for just cruzin' around. The negatives would be...it only has #113 L-98 heads; and a small, slow acting, favoring the exhaust cam. You can do much better with aftermarket parts in these areas. Get a short-block; new or rebuilt, without cam if possible. AFR Eliminator 180 heads for about $1400, and a small Comp Cam with exhaust duration 6-10* more than the intake, and you'll have plenty of power with room to "grow" in the future.
As the previous poster stated for cruising around it would be fine. It depends on what your intended purpose is with the motor. I went with the Fastburn 385 a few years ago and have had no reliability issues. I even found that underpowered though and upgraded to a HOT cam and 1.6 self aligning roller rockers. Horsepower/ torque is up around 400+ supposedly(won't dyno it until spring), and I'm still thinking about adding a 100 shot of nitrous. Horsepower is a drug, can never get enough.
Check out this site combos 88-91 and 93-97. I like number 93, everything else looks like a waste of money and effort.
Once again I say go for it if your looking for reliability and just a nice cruiser. Also i believe Scoggin Dickey is having a big sale and taking a lot off of these motors. Good Luck!
