Default GMPP NA Manifold question....

I am in the process of installing a GM performance part naturally aspirated manifold on an LT-1. The engine has already been reconfigured to support a rear mounted distributor, but the water passages in the aftermarket manifold are completly blocked-off!

Can someone explain to me the fix for this???

With the reverse flow, can someone illustrate the water path without any water running through the manifold.

Thanks!!!!

well I can't explain the water flow, But in the "old days" we would use gaskets that blocked the water from going through the manifold to keep things cool. the fuel going through the manifold.

On many aftermarket manifolds there are tapped bosses to allow the builder to plumb coolant lines; you might be able to do a similar thing here but I am not familiar with the reverse cooling so I can not help you on where to plumb to.

Can you describe to me how to connect the radiator hoses. (I have a traditional style aluminum radiator). Currently the lower hose goes into the water pump. There is also a small heater style hose attached to the water pump going into the block.

Also there's a homemade water manifold made out of an aluminum block; (see first picture), with a traditional water neck attached to three heater sized hoses coming out of the sides for return lines. This was attached to the upper radiator inlet and the heater hoses had two going to the top of the rear left & right side of the manifold? One went into a junction of heater hoses???

Basically, I need to know...where should the water going into the top of the radiator come from???

(I won't have a heater since this is a track only car).

Thanks again!

LT1 or LT-1?

Two different engines.

LT-1 built in the '70's

LT1 built in the 90's is reversed cooled.

If you're getting your inlet from the lower radiator hose the outlet can come from any source you want. On sprint cars we use several places like the freeze plugs on the side of the engine coupled with several outlets on the head/intake. I don't know how you are only getting your inlet from the pump that you have in the pic though. I am not terribly familiar with the LT1 but I thought the pump had both the inlet and the thermostat/outlet on it and provisions for the in and outbound water cast into the block. I would think with the amount of LT1 guys on here we could get a conclusive answer on this….

Thanks to all...looks like it is a L-98 after all!

Now all I need is to find a manifold / carb set-up that will fit under a stock hood!
