Default Engine ID?

Happy New Year!!!!!! Now, I was wondering if someone could help me ID an engine I found today while "browsing" at the "junkyard". The casting number is: 3970010 and there is a number stamped on the front of the engine on a "tab" near the timimg chain cover which is: 12B571236 K12 02 CKD. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Mike

piratemike......
Double check the numbers that start with 12B. Part of that number is date code and part is VIN # to match to car it came from.
The rest of the numbers break down as follows.

K1202 K= Canada 12= Dec. 02 = 2nd day of the month.
CKD common suffix code used 72-74 for Camaro, Chevelle, Impala, and Nova.
Known in some applications as an L-48.
3970010. Very common casting number for a 350 block. (also used for the 302), many HP possibilities and used on 2 & 4 bolt blocks.

Hope this helps
