Have you seen the post I put out on my swap endeavor? If not let me know and ill try and dig it up for you.
No I probably missed it because I wasn't considering an auto at the time. If you can find it that would be great. I like the lockup switches in the ashtray idea, I may inquire more about them when I get to that point.

Thanks for all the great info, I really appreciate it. :)

Jvette73,

Thanks! I talked to Tom Dewitt today and I might just put off having my sidepipes recoated and get an aluminum radiator and the dual spal fans instead. At this rate of spending I'm going to have to start robbing banks to feed my habit. :D

JVETTE73 - I also at one time thought that have a tranny built to lock it in every gear was the way to go.

The clutch on the converters just don't last. I turned a nice 3800 stall into another garage fixture.

If you want higher rpm shifts a 48 dollar 700R4 govenor is much cheaper. I have a 5000 for auto shift street driving and a 6800 for good time driving. If your manually shifting the tranny should never change gears. So I really don't understand the extra 500 rpm statement.

gkull, I understand it can put a stress on the clutches on the convertor shifting high rpms while locking up at the same time. I even contradict an earlier statement I made on this forum warning people to avoid locking up under high load. Anyhow, you know how it goes, having the maximum fun puts stress on many things. I tried many different combos of locked and unlocked and this rpm shift and that rpm shift. My tranny is governed to shift on its own at 4000rpm full throttle. I wish it was higher but I havnt had a chance to tinker with it yet. Untill then im left to manually shift for best results. I found that "unlocked" for the entire run I could get best results by shifting @ 5000rpm. When i tested it "locked" and shifted it @ 5000rpm, the 2nd to 3rd upshift caused a slight amount of hesitation since the rpms droped lower with the locked convertor. I couldnt really feel the hesitation too much, but my brother who was there at half track said he could definatly hear the slight hound of the moter droping just below its curve as it went into 3rd. So the next run I just bumped the shift rpms up to 5500rpm. This combo gave the best results for me.

So while unlocked I got best results shifting @ 5000. Locked, I got the best results, which were at least 2 tenths better on average, shifting @5500. Hope this clears up your interpratation. I got the facts in my head for sure. Sometimes its not so easy putting my thoughts out clearly in writing.
