Default Bill Mitchell Hardcore Engines???

Anyone have any experience with Bill Mitchell's Hardcore Racing engines. I was planning on ordering one of his Mowtown II 427 short-block. Comes built with a new Mowtown II block, internally balanced 4340 Scat 9000 crank, Manley 6.0" H-beam 4340 rods, and JE/SRP/Weisco pistons. Their website is http://www.theengineshop.com. And, their brochure seems like they have their stuff together, but need to hear from someone who's had some hands on experience with their products... :D

You need to drop the "www" from the link you posted. When I tried it I got an error, but dropping the WWW got me in.

BTW, Thanks for the link.

I helped a guy build an SBC 427 a few months ago, and he used the Bill Mitchell 427 shortblock. It looked like a good deal to me.

Does the Motown II block use 7/16" main bolts rather than the 1/2" bolts. I haven't seen this personally, but the machine shop I use told me they've seen the main webs crack around the 1/2" bolts, I've also read of several cases of this on the Headsupreview.com NMCA/NSCA forum. I guess the main web material gets too thin around the bolt holes due to the large 1/2" bolts/studs.

Granted, these are all high-performance, racing situations but it may be something to ask about. I heard they were going to go with the more common 7/16" mains.

Monty - Did you ever run across any Dart Based short block vendors?

I don't think Dart offers built shortblocks like World does through the Bill Mitchell Hardcore brand. I can't think of any short block vendors who use the Dart blocks exclusively.
