well, I have heard that the turbo will quiet an exhuast a good bit, but the 2 turbo ricers at my work seem to be pretty loud at idle with 4 and 6 cylinders, I think a built TT V8 would still be pretty loud with only turbos for mufflers.
I guess you TT guys can answer this for sure in a few months.
would using 1 stage out of a dry sump oiling system provide proper scavanging for the turbos??? I like the thought of mounting the turbos in front for a gravity drain but the packaging starts to get more complicated. callaway and LPE both mount the turbos lower to simplify/shorten the exh manifolds to the turbo to get good boost response. make routine of the waste gates and exh a bit easier too. that way the turbos don't really show too much. I have also heard of turbos that have a "self contained" (aerodyne, not sure) oiling system (like the super chargers) that don't rely on engine oil but I really don't trust them. anyone heard of these??? I'm thinking of twin TE45 turbos from Precision. the turbos go for around 2k for a pair, less for used ones and they flow enough for 600 HP each (more than I will need!!!)
sounds like "plumbing" on a custom job can run right around 10K or more for just for the headers/intercooler pipes. Anyone do decent stainless exh construction and alum tube bending cheaper than kooks??? sounds a bit expensive, and I know materials costs are high. looking for help on a twin turbo ZR1 project. can't afford LPE and Callaway and they won't do any more of them anyway!!! thanks.
