Default Which one first?

Going to finally step up to the plate on my crossfire. Things to do are cam, heads, 1.6 rockers, headers. What is the best order of things if I am doing this over time, watching my pennies.

I would hope:

rockers
headers
cam
heads

maybe headers then rockers.

Obviously, cam and heads are a level above rockers and headers

Most of my driving is streets and beltway commuting. Interested in more 0-60 time than top end.

Cam it first ,,,, the ports are so restrictive that a cam by virtue of duration
alone will really help you . It,s really easy this will allow it to breath longer !

Having been down the Crossfire Modification road before, I would suggest porting the manifold runners to match the intake port of the cylinder heads first. I'm sure you are aware that about 1/3 of the manifolds intake port is blocked.

After that, I would start form the inside and work my way out. Install a better cam and swap on some aluminum heads with smaller chambers to raise the compression up to around 10.0. Then do the exhaust.

Rockers, cam, and headers/exhaust will do nothing to a Crossfire engine without fixing the manifold first.

I've done the porting, with acceptable results, and some other minor external things. Sounds like its time to break it open.

Hey Larry, what's up?
IMO, if you want to get the most noticable gain in performance, do it all at once. But as you stated, you are wanting to do it over time. SO,,,, 1st I would suggest doing the headers. 2nd the Rocker-Arms, this will effectively give you more lift & duration from the cam you've got. Finally, I would do the Heads/Cam at the same time. Give us a call.

Darth:

Went by to see Kyle today to get a price on 1.6 rockers. Going to do that first - cheaper than headers at this point. Wife wants to re-landscape the back yard so only so much $ to go around at this time. Will probably do the headers in a month or three.

Saw you and crew at the Atchafalaya yesterday again, but could not get over there before you guys left.

hehehe, If we get that busy we'll just hire some more techs. We've got a full shop & have 4 more cars coming in this next week. We're finishing some of the ones that are in there now to make room for them.
