Default McLeod Twin Disc engagement problem

Well, I bought the ring, but I'm still having trouble figuring out how I'm going to pop the question... :jester

Seriously though, I have a Street Twin in an 88 4+3, and recently I've been hearing (and feeling) a major groan from the clutch assy when releasing the clutch under a load. I also hear a little extra noise when releasing the clutch in neutral with the engine running.

I've run the clutch for about 6 months, and really haven't beat on it that hard.
No problems when the clutch is being engaged at low loads, nor does it have problems when fully engaged.

Throwout bearing? Pressure Plate? Flywheel? Anyone else further along on the TwinDisc learning curve than me? Thanks in advance...

Are you using the stock type release bearing or the McLeod hydraulic bearing?

My clutch went in in stages. McLeod sent the wrong flywheel 3 times (I know, there's only 2 types for SBC). They sent the wrong hydraulic cylinder (figured this out after helping them get the flywheel right) and gave the wrong measurements to my mechanic 4 times.

Abso-phuckin-loutely amazing.... Anyway, It's the stock release bearing unit in there, this is what they tell me the 4+3 requires.

Assuming you have a Street Twin, you are running a Mcleod Bearing? Did it come with your kit?

I have the Street Twin, but I used a Hydraulic release bearing that bolts to the front of the input shaft. It works very well.It was bolted to a ZF 6spd.

I assume the hyd. bearing that you mentioned is the McLeod unit.

Thanks for the info, if it ends up being the bearing, I'll be sure to get McLeod to send me a hydraulic one.
