Hi all,
I was reading Vette magazine and they wrote an article about changing the valve rocker arms.Boy, they sure seemed to love this mod.
I would be interested in trying this also. The goal would be to get more uniform timing and eliminate any loosness. I am not looking to increase the ratio so much as to run into clearance and tuning problems. My motor is stock except for exhaust and intake.
I do not even know what type of rockers a 1999 LS1 has.
My question is has anyone done this? Easy for a DYIer? What brand/ type? How much? Any regrets?
KENNY. I BELIEVE CRANE IS THE ONLY PLACE WHO MAKES AN AFTERMARKET THAT I'VE SEEN THAT IS EVEN REMOTELY REASONABLE FOR A STOCK REPLACEMENT ROCKER.. THEY ARE AVAILABLE IN A 1.8:1 RATIO. YOUR ROCKERS ARE ROLLER FULCRUM SHAFT MOUNTED AND NON-ADJUSTABLE. GM COULD HAVE GIVEN YOU GUYS SOME SLACK HERE...... OH WELL. MY RECOMENDATION IS TO THINK CAM INSTEAD OF ROCKERS.. MORE PERFORMANCE FOR THE DOLLAR AND YOU WILL BE UPGRADING TO BETTER VALVE TRAIN PIECES IF YOU GO WITH Ti. GOOD LUCK!
