I was thinking, like, all motors are engines, but not all engines are motors.
A motor is something which brings about movement.
An engine is something which, for lack of a better phrase, takes in "X" at one end and puts out "Y" at the other. An IC engine takes in fuel/air and puts out rotational force. A math engine takes in numbers/variables and puts out solutions.
So you could call what's under your hood either, but you can't call a calculator a motor.

Using precise language, engines and motors are completely different animals, but we often use the terms interchangeably. A rose by any other name . . .
