I hope you're not referring to my post in the C4 section stating the LT-1 intake is superior to the Superram.... which it is,
that was one of them.
..... you won't regret once you have it all dialed in.
It's not installed yet. I could easily turn around and sell it. If that LT-1 intake is truly superior, I still have a chance at going that route. Cuz, for sure the Edelbrock intake I have on now is coming off. I'm guessing the LT-1 intake for L98's is the TPIS Mini-Ram?

Thanks for the cam recomendations. That's a pretty aggressive lobe you have there. Pretty short duration and a good bit of lift. Did you have it custom ground? Have you dyno'd it? What is the curve on it? Where does it peak at? What kind of RPM does it like?

You know coating the pistons would be a good idea,

I'm not sure what you mean by short duration? It's more than 20 degrees more than all these guys running the 219 hydro roller cams which is about the most that can be run on emmission controled vehicles.

Yes, I have a custom ground Crane solid roller with the new high tech roller lifters and a combo of Crower & comp cams steel roller rockers. No dyno time yet. I went against Monty's better judgement. The problem is altitude. It doesn't do me much good to dial it in at sea level when the the majority of my driving is at 4800 -7000 feet.

Cranes custom cams give you choices of how aggressive your lobe is. The ramps look near straight with a wide space on the top at max lift. I ask for the max ramp that could be run with my 195# closed pressure and rev kit. My springs were made for .700 max lift so I'm not stressing them much in the low 600's with a max rpm of 7500.

After running 100's of simulations on desk top dyno. With only 383 ci it's better to 236-246 degrees on the intake and 8 -10 more split on the exhaust. With big head flow numbers the motors get peaky over 250 degrees and they start making max power in excess of 7000 rpm

I sent my JE pistons out for coating in up state new york. @ $225 for eight, but they got the whole three coating treatment. Thermal top - moly sides and oil repellant bottoms.

That's what I meant. It's a pretty aggressive looking lobe considering the lift you have vs. duration. There are many guys running similar duration but much less lift. I like your combo from what I can tell just looking at overall numbers. It appeared to be a pretty fast acting lobe to get that lift from 1.5/1.6/1.65 rockers. Which are you currently using?

The 219* degree ones are actually pretty amazing too from what some of the EFI guys run. Kind of the same idea, short duration with lots of lift. Your's just goes that much better. On a carb setup like we will probably end up going with I'm thinking something close to yours is great. I've seen in the past you posted your valvetrain life has been good with this setup. 195 psi seat pressure is pretty stout for long life. How much is it "over the nose"? You definitely shouldn't have any valve float issues with it with the lightweight of the small block valvetrain in the under 7500 range. How much pressure does the rev kit add?

I pretty much did the same thing on my 427. I ran springs that were much stouter than needed and set them up with less pressure, They lasted forever and plenty of room for occasional excessive stuff!

The piston coating price sounds good. Do you remember who it was that coated them? Maybe we need to talk into some new pistons!

1.65 intake and 1.6 exhaust. The springs are something like 550# lbs open. They are enough to bend the 7/16th ARP studs.

The rev kit springs are @ 30# and of course this is only felt by the roller lifters. 9000 miles last year and all the springs are within a few pounds. All the Comp cams +.200 push rods and Crane new high tech rollers are all sound.
http://www.swaintech.com for autos. I just looked at their site and it's $38 each - which is @ $300 maybe. They will give you a deal for pistons and heads
