Default 3/8 fuel line limitations

Inquiring to find out opinions on how much HP a 3/8 inch fuel line can support. I am running a motor that has dyno'ed at 700 + HP on 91 Octane, 10.5 compression. I am using a Pro systems 1000 cfm carburetor. Car is 99 % street, I do not want to run into a lean condition.

Want all to look mostly stock and will use a Mechanical fuel pump with no plans for a fuel regulator. I have looked at using 1/2 inch fuel line and a 1/2 inch sender (Classic Tube will customize stock sender and make tube). I don't believe there will be any clearance issues with 1/2 inch tub.

Thoughts, opinions.

Thanks

3/8" sounds small for the power...most making that power run 1/2" to 5/8"...i wouldnt skimp here...but on the same note it does you no good to run 5/8" hose to a fuel pump with 1/4" inlet...btw most pumps capible of feeding 700hp are going to require a fuel pressure regulator...aeromotive has good technical info that help you plan out your system...good luck!

I use the stock AC-Delco mech fuel pump with a return line. I road race, open road race and one mile drags. 3/8th is more than enough for a small motor of only 700 hp.

I used to use bigger titanium needle and seats for Alki for a bigger flow diameter and have switched to a NASCAR road racing anti foaming needle and seats.

Just ask your self the question. How many seconds is your motor actually run at 700 hp? Or even with your foot on the floor?

Many thanks for the replies. I have found a lot of information on 3/8 inch fuel line and amount of fuel required on a carburetor engine. Now is the time for me to make my decisions before the body drop. This is my last build and I want to be careful. Attached in the dyno run of my 540 which is now sitting in the chassis.

Hope what you have works out

I thought stock on our cars was 7/16

Anyway and according to areomotive 7/16 from their pump forward will support 1000HP but from and including the pickup (sending unit) to the pump must be 1/2........ but that is using electric

Hope to be down your way sometime in the next couple of months.....

Default fuel line

I have a 540 making about 780 hp. I first ran a 3/8 line, then switched the system over to 1/2...no difference.
