Hey yall, check out your newest Summit. Track Pro just merged with Topline so hence the name. These are absolutely the cheapest heads I have seen that flow 300+ cfm. That can support 600+hp!
The reason I believe is because they finally made a truly big head that flows out of he box, the heads get expensive when they have to put them on CNC machines and such.
So who's the guinea pig? :)

Re: New Pro Topline heads are CHEAP! (Jenny)
Big block or small block, iron I assume. That is good flow for a big block, more than my oval Perfromer RPM's. That is really good flow for a small block. You would want some good cam numbers to go with those heads.
I was impressed with the new Edelbrock Victor Jr. line up. They are ready to go racing. The Factory ported Dart Pro1's like mine are a real bargain for just under $2400 complete with 2.08/1.60 titanium collars and roller springs with 318 CFM intake and 230 exhaust.
What did these heads cost?
Do you plan on doing any other work on them, like polish the combustion chambers?
Clean up the intake/exhuast ports, or any bowl work?

They have 235cc IR aluminum head with CNC chambers/As cast runners 318cfm @700. $949 bare, $1216 w/550max lift, $1240 w/600max lift, $1250 w/660max lift rollers, $1382 w/720max lift rollers.
All heads are flowed with backcut vavles, usually give 5cfm at lower lifts and not quite as much at high lifts.
Re: New Pro Topline heads are CHEAP! (bill mcdonald)
I paid same as summit, $1200 for complete heads but the shop I bought them from is owned by a freind of mine and he did some upgrading and went through them. Plus he did some cleanup in the bowls. I am going to polish the chambers before I put them on. I am still trying to figure out what intake I am going to use. I have a crossfire stock and that might not flow enough to make use of the ports.
If you are running a cross fire, consider an X-Ram or port the stock manifold. I believe the X Ram will outflow a ported stock intake though. Visit this web site for info on Cross Fire cars http://www.crossfire.homeip.net:81/c...artdefault.asp
I have already ported out the stock intake and have the 7747 in the basement just need to get a cable from ken and burn some proms. I am not doing any intake changes till new short block is finished next year. Similair to what your '86 has except a 350 bowtie block with the stroker callies crank and maybe a miniram if I can work a deal with TPIS they are only 20 mins from my house. I looked at the xram but with them not being made anymore I am shying away from one. The offy is one cool intake though and that may be an option with a new top lid and some bored out tb's.

How many are going to run .700" lift cams? What are real world numbers, like at .400" and .550"? If I read correctly in the Summit catalog, there's no bargain if you buy them CNC'd. The concensus seems to be that AFR's are the best SBC heads on the market. They work. The Topline's would seem to be fine if the CC's and bowels, are cleaned up.

You are correct about the valve lift. I wouldn't call the AFRs THE best, but they would be close. AFR is proud of the numbers that they achieve, but there are two things that bug me a little about them 1. They aren't so quick to show you their pricing, cuz they are dam expensive, especially the fully ported competition versions. 2. They don't advertise the actual Intake Runner CCs of there fully ported heads, everyone thinks Competition ported 190s are the greatest ever when in fact they have nearly 210CC runners.
Those are my only beefs. When I go to buy heads, they are going to be the Pro Toplines, the major price difference of far outweighs the other slight differences for me. But to each their own.
Re: New Pro Topline heads are CHEAP! (korvetkeith)
korvetkeith Just for comparison. My darts are 227 cc intake and 85 cc exhaust. The exhaust ports are raised .500 and the intake is taller than a FelPro 1206 gasket. That's how they get the high flow numbers. The exhaust is so big that my 1 3/4 hookers were to small
Sivr77,
The Pro 180 heads "approximate" what the AFR 190's will flow at $500 less.A real bargain in my opinion. The 200's and up are killer heads that would need a either larger CI motor or compression on the ragged edge for the street.Three members have contacted me and did the math and have now bought the pro Action 180's
Kieth, imo you should not appologize for posting a very good alternate product.I am with you on your post.I would rather have the Pro Action heads and $500 worth of other potentially or comparatively "free"Hi performance parts to even better the end result.
Are they the answer to all? Nope. Many good heads out there. These are just some of what is available.Every combination or application should be looked at separately as opposed to mirroring anothers combo of parts. So many factors weigh in depicting this need to do so.As in gear, trans ect.

Thanks Mountain. Please excuse a hi-perfomance rookie..but the name "Pro" is short for what manufacturer? Do you have AFR web address too? I'm shoppin for heads now and am doing my homework... just need more stats to compare...
