Nitro and Compression
In the process of building a 400-427sbc for my 88.
My plan is to have my compression around 11.5 to 12 to 1 non aspirated. I plan to run pump gas 93 with a mix of turbo blue, probably to get my octane level to 97-99. Was needing to know if thats enough octane with the nitro shot as well. Nitro package comes with 75-100-150-200 jets.
I've heard that the nitro isn't as octane sensitive as a blower or turbo is. But still I am forcing air in. Would like to hear some of your input, experiences. Thanks

You have nothing to worry about. You can run N2O with with high compression. Actually N2O like high compression any way. Unlike forced induction applications is the opposite. You look at those drag racer running 13:1 + compression and dumping 300-500hp shot of N2O.

I thought he was talking about Nitrous and it is not bothered by high compression. They run 15 or more compressions and still run large doses of nitrous. Nitro methane itself is a poor fuel and pound for pound gas far outdoes it.

But why? Is it because not enough octane was run?
Some motors can run on pump gas with 11 to 1 compression. So if it is bumped up 5 points with either a mix of Turbo Blue or C16, is that enough octane to elimate spark knock, which can kill a motor?
