I've got a pretty much decked block (I measure .010" and the engraved numbers are gone) and a little thinner head gasket (.028" compressed). When I put my intake manifold on, it was difficult to start the bolts, but they all went in. The heads are AFR 195's that I bought used. I do have the invoice which shows that they were the 74cc heads flat milled to 69cc and that the intake (on the head) was corrected.
I'm now burning some oil and I'm going to start by fixing the intake fit. I figure that I'm .023" - .028" off of the normal .041" head gasket and .020" - .025" deck height. I've read that for every .010" off the head, you take .0123" off the intake side, but I want to check myself how much needs to be taken off the intake. Anybody have any tips to measure this stuff?

There are some formulas for doing that in one of the recent Summit Racing catalgs. Try searching their on-line site tech stuff, it's likely to be there also. I'll see if it's a catalog I still have lying around.

Greg, thanks for the response. I have that Summit catalog sitting on my desk and is where I got the .0123" figure from. I'm wondering if there is any info out there which shows how to measure this type of stuff.

Here's what Lingenfelter says about milling in his book on modifying SBC engines:
Blodk/Head.....Int.Side.....Int.Bottom
.010"..............012".........017"
.020"..............025".........034"
.030"..............037".........052"
