Cam Advice....
I'm still waiting on my engine to come in. 355ci motor with 2.02/1.60, 3 angle valve job, etc about 185 runners...Keeping the compression to about 9.5 to 1. Trying to decide between a CC XE268 or XE262. Want to keep a little lope (Like a 151 grind), but keep good bottom end torque. I really only drive on the street and keep the rpms under 5500. Anyone have experience with either of the two cams and your thoughts? The rated low end rpm difference between the two is 1300 vs 1600. Worried that the 268 is too big for my driving. Really need your opinions.
As to the help from the CompCams ... Put on hold for 15 min and they basically didn't tell me anything, no help at all. Just "yeah, uh huh..." BTW that was the 3rd time I called with the same type response for different cars. Didn't even ask me about the heads, exhaust, driving style, etc. Just what engine size... duh.
With a 355, either of the Comp cams you are considering should work fine. Given the <5500RPM thing, I would use the 262.
As to lope, the 268 specs are a lot closer to the 151 cam.
My real advice is to use the 151 cam. Since you aren't concerned with ultimate performance, and you want the 151 sound, just use the 151. They're readily available and make great mid-range torque.
What's going to happen to the 327 with the big cam?

The 151 grind was off of the 327 L79 motor... 222/222 @ .50 and .447/.447 lift. Had it in my 68 Camaro before I sold it. Really liked it, very broad. The total dur was about 320 I think. Yeah, good to see more StL folks on the board... When is it gonna warm up again???
