Hey folks,
Ordered a 350 custom engine that just came in. I checked the block number and it is T3970020 denoting a 307 block. Assuming it was bored out to 350 specs (Bore 3.875 to 4.00; stroke 3.25 to 3.48). Is this common place to convert a 307 block? Most ref materials I got only recommend up to .60 overbore on 327s & 307s. I'm concerned that the if I want to bore it out later to a 355 or 383 I won't have much to work with. Are they they basically the same core block (307 & 350)? Reply needed ASAP please!! EZ sends
the 307 block is a smaller bore then the 4.00 bore of the 350 also the 327 block is the same as the 350 with a bore of 4.00,but the 307 and the 327 crank is the same stroke.id stay away from the 307,even if you bore it .060 over your still not at a 4.00 bore yet.youre somewhere around a 339ci.
