Default Help Me. Somebody. Please.

I'm looking for someone who can offer a huge assist to me with some parts. Here's the deal:

My 406 is ready to go back together. I' ve got everything I need except a set of lifters--SBC hydraulic roller retrofits (Comp Camp P/N 853-16).

I ordered them at the end of February. They were supposed to be available in April. Then May 3. You guessed it--those lifters are still on national back order.

Does ANYONE OUT THERE have a new set of Comp Cams 853-16 SBC hydraulic roller lifters that he/she is not using right now? If so and you don't need them for a while, please IM me. I'd like to talk to you about taking yours off your hands to get my car running. In exchange, I will give you the new set Comp Cams owes me when I get them and reimburse you for shipping. Or something. Talk to me.

I'm posting this in the C2 and C3 Swap Meet sections, too.

I just bought a set of 3000 mile used lifters from tpi421vette, for future use.
I don't know if you would be interested, but maybe we could work something
out. Chevy lifters (not just rollers) are on national back order EVERYWHERE.
I don't know what the problem is, but NO one is shipping lifters at this time.

Edit: What happened to this thread that you have to pan all the way across the screen to try to read it???

Dude, have you tried eBay or Yahoo auctions? In addition to those two, there are other auction sites that I would check daily. Currently, eBay doesn't have that exact part listed, but other similar parts are available. New listings are posted daily, so check often! Good luck with your search! Check out this link

Are they Comp Cams 853-16s? If so I'd be willing to take 'em off your hands. Sweet deal for you--you'll get brand new ones in return. I just don't know when.

I didn't know the shortage is affecting other types of Chevy lifters, too. I know it's all related somehow to Federal-Mogul's current reorganization. I guess I feel a little better. (Except that my timing blows.)

I don't know what heppened to stretch it out like this.

Dude, sorry no retros. What about some of the engine builders. Gotta have something laying around. They take 'em out of one guys engine, replaces with new, and re-sell the ones they pulled.

Dude,
I don't know. I didn't care when I bought them. I'll see if I can find out.

Dude,
According to the seller these ARE Comp Cams, 853-16 lifters. They are
represented to have 3000 miles on them. I consider that to be as good as
new. Sweet deal? Maybe. I don't feel I have much to gain. My motivation is
to help out a fellow Corvette Forum member. I would like SOME assurance,
that I won't have to wait "forever" for them to become available again. See
what you can find out from your end, and I'll see what I can learn from here.

Edit: I had to put in "returns", so this could be read without panning.

The link in shotgun's post made it wide. It has no spaces and the software fit it all on one line.

Dude!!!!!!!

Please respond to this, or send me an IM. I'm located in Harrisburg PA, and contacted one of my suppliers (I work for a speed shop parttime).

I asked about your lifters, and he has a full set sitting on his shelf and they do ship out UPS, or I'd pick them up and ship them myself.

He did comment about the shortage, actually it's the lifter tubes that are the hold up. I gotta call the guy I work for, for a price. But a set does exist!!!!!!!

Get back to me...

You can call me at (717) 386-1409 (cell phone) and leave a number that I can contact you...

Gotcha via IM.
MasterDave hooked me up with a supplier in Washington who can supply me with a set. It's a Speed Pro part number but Speed Pro manufactures these lifters for just about everybody who sells them. Thanks, everybody for checking around for me. Looks like I'll have the lifters on Wednesday or Thursday. Dunno whether I'm going to cancel the order with Comp Cams yet. It may be handy to have another set around in case this happens again.

CFI-EFI, assurances were going to be the sticking point of the deal. Comp Cams has been, for two months now, giving me dates and then reneging on them. In March they said, "beginning of April." I called at the beginning of April and they said, "Sorry. It'll be May 3." I called on May 3 and they said, "Sorry. It'll be the week of June 5." But thank you for checking and responding and if I can ever be of assistance, don't hesitate to drop me a line.

Dude,
I'm glad it worked out this way for you. It is a "cleaner" deal, all the way
around. After what I found out at work today, I was going to be reluctant to
let them go. I didn't know exactly how to tell you that, but now I don't have
to. I'm glad you got covered. I think you got lucky.

PS. And guess who owns Speed Pro?
