Hi there, I am looking at buying an L82 and the owner informed me that the motor was swapped out and he put in another 350. My question is that i'm not sure if a 350 a 350, or should I ask if the engine came out of a pick-up truck or something? Does it really matter where it came out of? thanks in advance for your responce.

matter as far as what? Performance, resale, etc?
If the original is gone that will hurt you come selling time unless you dont care.

FWIW back in the day I had a 79 L48 with an auto trans and did exactly what you mentioned in the first post. It made a lot of difference for not a lot of money. You could try that first and see how you like it. Nice looking car.
